Call For Art Grant Proposal Submissions!

Due to the success of last year’s Boston Decompression, The Lost City, we are happy to announce that Boston Decompression will again be offering art grants! Last year, we were able to help fund 8 unique interactive art projects that appeared at The Lost City. The total funds contributed to art grants in 2014 were close to $3,000. We are so excited and happy to be able to give back and support art in this community again in 2015!

If you would like to apply for a grant to fund materials and costs to bring a new or existing project or performance to Boston Decompression in 2015, please fill out the online application form below with the details of your proposal. The grants committee will be considering proposals for new as well as existing works of interactive visual and performance art in any medium. Work that is responsive to this year's theme (which will be announced very soon) or helps to transform the space will be given priority consideration. Grants can be up to $500 and will primarily fund the materials and consumables costs for artwork and performance and, potentially, transportation costs for art coming from outside the Boston area. (The Decompression Art Committee will work with Boston area artists to arrange shared transportation for local projects.)

Here is the timeline for the art grants process:

  • Art Grant Submissions Open - Now!

  • Art Grant Submissions Due - Thursday, September 17th, by 11:59 PM.

  • Art Grant Recipients Notified of Their Selection - Friday, September 25th, at noon.

  • Following the return of the signed Grant Contract, the first 75% of granted funds is paid out over - Saturday, September 26th through Saturday, October 3rd.

  • Complete the funded project for Boston Decompression 2015 - Saturday, November 7th!

  • After successful presentation of the project at Decompression, and the grantee has provided documentation of the project at Decompression, the remaining 25% of grant funds will be disbursed - by Saturday, November 21st, 2015.

If you are the recipient of an art grant, you will receive 75-percent of your grant amount upon confirmation and return of the signed contract. Funds will be transferred to the recipient via Paypal or check. The remaining 25-percent of the grant amount will be delivered to the recipient within two weeks of the 2015 Decompression event in which the funded project has been featured and/or contributed, pending documentation of the grant-funded project.

Please note, this form is intended only for applying for an art grant.  A general “Call for Art” and participation will be announced around the second week of September. There will be a venue visit and walkthrough opportunity in September.
